Van 1977 tot eind 2005 was Dick van Altena (1957) hét gezicht en vooral hét geluid van de legendarische country band (The) Major Dundee (Band). Tevens staat zijn naam als componist/tekstdichter onder talloze liedjes van Henk Wijngaard, Armand, Toni Willé (‘Pussycat’), Saskia & Serge, De Sjonnies en vele, vele anderen.
